REVIEW: universal and wise love
Richard Payment has written a deep, uplifting story, filled with a fascinating yet tender purity. A purity whose desire to be fully discovered, takes us upon a personal and universal voyage. When he is ten years old Vishesh, the protagonist, a humble, unpretentious boy from Nargol in India witnesses a lady in meditation under a tree by the sea. Whilst doing so he enters into a hightened, timeless state. This profound experience is the catalyst sparking his physical and spiritual odyssey. There is a magical quality in Richard Payment's narration coupled with candied insight and realism. The journey is marked along its way with colourful characters, each of whom, gift an archetypal quality from which Vishesh learns and introspects. Although set in the contemporary world, his adventure follows the classic style of a pilgrimage of discovery. The whole novel is infused with and buoyed up by the flow and poetry of unconditional, universal and wise love, whose message it bears.

REVIEW: wonderful reading
One of the best novels I have come across in the last years. It is not only entertaining, but it takes you to another awareness.
REVIEW: finding your pearl
As you read you will get closer to your very own pearl... In that one big oyster of heart... That pearl is yours... mine... and ours eventually... as one big heart. Walk with this boy on his wonderous journey, as you read through Payment's novel.

REVIEW: What a wonderful book
This is a very special story. It is beautifully written and it is unusual. It has a simplicity about it but at the same time a depth that one can really relate to. For me it is a 'must read' for anyone who is interested in introspection, and spirituality in the very widest sense.

REVIEW: A wonderful adventure
A beautifully written book about the seeking and spiritual journey of the narrator that takes the reader seamlessly from the coastal villages of India, across the great oceans, all the way to Canada and then London. On the way he meets very fascinating people who enrich his life in various ways. Once you start reading, the book is very hard to put down as one keeps wondering what adventure awaits this young man next. The book is written in a very simple style, yet full of deep poetry, much like the works of Gibran. A must read for any seeker of truth!! Highly recommend it. I cannot wait for his next book!!

REVIEW: delightfully inspiring
Richard Payment makes it seem so easy to tell a story that can expose the innermost subtleties of human experience. The language is simple yet scholarly. To use a reference from this book itself - "For want of wonders" is like the golden tree in the forest of literature. If you are a seeker, this book will guide you to your destination. If you are not a seeker, this book will tell you why you should be one. A truly inspiring piece of work.
